Command Palette, the fastest way to find the right content and features

Anyone who works with images and other media files runs into the same issue: when a workflow leans too heavily on manual habits, getting started as a new user can be tough. How do you quickly find your way through menus and folder structures that may not follow the logic that feels natural to you?

Command Palette, the fastest way to find the right content and features

Mediaflow's built-in Command Palette makes this easier for your entire organization, thanks to its powerful integration across the platform.

The problem: when a system is powerful but hard to navigate

A lot of digital tools expect you to know where everything lives. Which menu, which folder, which setting. It can quickly feel overwhelming, and often leads to extra clicks and detours even when you already know what you want to do.

Command Palette flips that approach.

One way into the entire platform

Command Palette is a search-based interface that brings navigation, search results, and commands together in a single window. Instead of remembering where everything lives, you just need to know what a feature is called, or describe the file you're looking for.

A single keyboard shortcut, Command + K on Mac or Ctrl + K on PC, opens a command panel wherever you are in Mediaflow. Results appear grouped by category as you type, so you immediately see what's a folder, a selection, a keyword, or a person.

A dramatically faster, more efficient way to work

Say you want to:

  • search for a folder, selection, keyword, or person
  • download, crop, share, or delete a file
  • create a subfolder
  • jump to another part of Mediaflow

Instead of clicking around, you just start typing. Command Palette shows you what's available and gets you there in no time. For many users, this quickly becomes the natural way to work.

When you're not sure where to start

A common challenge as platforms grow is that users don't even know certain features exist, or where their recent work went. That's why Command Palette shows your most recently used folders, selections, keywords, and people the moment you open it, without typing a single character. There's always a natural starting point.

And as soon as you start typing, you get suggestions for what's possible, based on your permissions and where you are in the system. That lowers the bar for new users and for advanced features that might otherwise go undiscovered.

Context-aware commands

One of Command Palette's strengths is that it's dynamic and adapts to the situation. If you've selected one or more files, you can download, crop, share, delete, or create a subfolder right away, no menu hunting required. If you're in a folder, you get other relevant actions.

The right action is always close at hand, without interrupting your workflow.

Find images with words or a reference image

Command Palette is also your way into Mediaflow's visual AI search. Describe the subject in your own words, or drop in a reference image, and the platform will find similar content based on what the image actually shows. We've written more about how it works here.

Faster for power users, friendlier for new ones

Importantly, Command Palette doesn't replace the classic way of working. Folders, menus, and advanced search are all still there. If you need more filtering options, a quick Command + F or Ctrl + F switches you from Command Palette to advanced search. The difference is that you get to choose how you work.

For experienced Mediaflow users, that means a significantly faster pace. For new users, it's a safe way to find the right thing without worrying about getting it wrong.
